Bendigo Priceless (Miffy) Sec B Mare no 1519

12hh Liver Chestnut mare. Born 1998. By Bendigo Mahogany (Sec A); out of 365 Chawton Precious (SOD Coed Coch Harn IMP 85) .

Miffy, our foundation Sec B mare, is truly priceless. She is the star (and the boss!) of the Hololio Pony Park riding school, and of the broodmare paddock too.

She arrived in foal and gave us lovely Ellie (Hololio Invaluable) (see below) in January 2006. In 2008 she bloodtested twice not in foal; did a full winter in the arena; then popped out a foal (Hololio Top Shelf) on 6 October 2008, 3 days after being identified in foal and stopping work.

She foaled Top Shelf 24 hours before our other mare Rosie foaled, then promptly adopted (stole!) the foal – happily feeding both (pictured here) and driving the other mare off until we separated them.

On 11 November 2009 she foaled another chestnut colt, Hololio Quasimodo, to Mithril Glenfiddich. Quasi is bigger than his full brother, Top Shelf and may go his mother’s colour.

For 2011 Miffy is in foal to Bendigo Royal Emperor, and due to foal in October.

Lyric WPB 2152

14.2hh Bay 3 year old Welsh Partbred mare, born 7 December 2006. Out of an unregistered grey, 14hh arab/welsh cross mare by our preferred Sec B stallion Mithril Glenfiddich.

We bought Lyric from Elanit Valent at Whangarei as a 2 year old as a larger riding pony and for her breeding on the sire’s side, as a broodmare.

Lyric is a lovely quiet pony, with beautiful movement. We brought her along quietly in the 2009-2010 summer and she is going very nicely under saddle.

On 6 October 2010 Lyric gave us a beautiful black colt foal to Welsh Cob Cwmkaren Beaufort Express 439 . Angus is an absolute stunner – see him on our youngstock pages.

Hololio Invaluable (Ellie) WPB 2096

Ellie is our first home-bred mare to breed for us. She was born on 26 January 2006 out of Miffy by an unregistered black pony stallion from the Waikato (pictured on right).

She’s broken in and going nicely for children and small adults – see the riding school pages.

On 6 October 2010 she gave us a beautiful bay colt foal by Bendigo Royal Emperor, the handsome chestnut Sec b stallion standing at Diane Kimpton’s Ty Gwyn stud in Northland. See Rudolf on the Youngstock pages.

Waitangi Rambling Rose (Rosie) dec’d February 2010

12.2hh Liver Chestnut Welsh Partbred mare. Born 1992. By Aranui Kriss 255 (Sec B) out of WPB 1270 Waitangi Immortelle (SOD Clifton Icicle 60).

Rosie arrived with Nilloh Eduardo (Teddy) at foot and has given us Boxer - Hololio Boxing Day (WPB G2240 born December 2006); and Jester - Hololio Court Jester, born 7 October 2008, both by Bendigo Polestar, and now finally our lovely cob filly Sparkles – Hololio Sparkling Rose.

Sparkles is by Welsh Cob Cwmkaren Beaufort Express 439. Beau is a fine big black stallion standing at the Ballytruckle Welsh Cobs stud at Ararimu.

We are thrilled with her, she has her mother’s beautiful head and her sire’s bone. She was born on 7 November 2009 after the Clevedon Fireworks night, hence the name.

Rosie struggled to feed Sparkles in the very dry summer. We did our best for her and weaned the foal early, but she continued to lose weight with constant feeding so we reluctantly had her put down in February. She’s buried with other old friends in our orchard.
